Foundations
and endowments are often highly visible to the public. As a result,
many of them recognize the importance of their investment portfolios
being consistent with their activities.
Many
foundations and endowments refuse to invest in the securities of
companies that produce harmful or objectionable products or do business
in countries with human rights problems. Other foundations and endowments
prefer to take a supportive approach. They want a portion of their
portfolios invested in companies whose policies and beliefs match
their own.
Although
socially responsible investing has grown in popularity over the
past decade, very few managers exclusively practice this type of
investing. Most investment management firms will readily agree to
construct portfolios that meet the client's social and ethical criteria.
Foundation Services Group has access to identify and evaluate bona
fide socially responsible investment managers with established performance
histories.
