Try to Remember This Kind of September

Hello:

For the first September since 1998, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and the Standard and Poors 500 (SPX) showed positive gains. Explanations for this irrationality (note two Hurricanes and the rise in oil prices) range from analyst pessimism (perhaps too conservative in earnings growth estimates) to potential economic expansion in the Gulf Coast due to Federally funded rebuilding.
