Himicane Ernesto

Hello:

Himicane Ernesto (we dare not call Ernesto a HURRicane!) is the first major storm in the Atlantic this season. Currently pelting Cuba with rain, Ernesto is expected to head for the East Coast of Florida, with a few sultry swipes at the Keys. This is causing oil traders to breathe a sigh of relief that the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico appear to be in the clear. The stock market is responding with a small rally.

The Wall Street traders are expected to return from the Hamptons this weekend, so next week may be the end of the annual Summer Doldrums in the domestic equity market.
